The maintenance of lead-acid forklift batteries
The lead-acid forklift battery is an important component of the forklift, which provides power for the forklift. However, without proper maintenance, these batteries will not perform at their best. Therefore, routine maintenance is essential to extend battery life and ensure its performance.
First, keep the battery clean. The battery surface and terminals should be cleaned regularly. Oil and dirt on the surface of the battery can cause the battery to leak current, while corrosion on the terminals can interfere with the battery's current transmission. Therefore, wipe the surface with a clean cloth or sponge, and lightly brush away corrosion with a metal brush.
Secondly, check the electrolyte level in time. The electrolyte of the battery is an acidic liquid, if the level is too low, it will affect the performance of the battery. Therefore, electrolyte levels should be checked weekly and distilled water added when needed. However, the electrolyte level should not be too high as this can cause the battery to overheat and damage the battery.
Third, charge it regularly. Lead-acid forklift batteries require regular charging to maintain their performance. If the battery is not charged, the capacity of the battery will decrease and the performance of the forklift will be affected. Therefore, you should ensure that the battery is fully charged before using it, and that the battery is connected to the charger when the forklift is parked.
Finally, check the health of your battery. The health of your battery is critical to its performance. The voltage, capacity and internal resistance of the battery should be checked monthly and appropriate measures should be taken based on the inspection results. For example, if you notice a decrease in battery capacity, consider replacing the battery.
